Lovin' on brother

Okay, so I have just deleted three potential introduction sentences! I really don’t know how to start this whole blog thing, but I am going to give it a try…I wanted to start this blog to update our friends and family who are far away, but I have the feeling that this will become a media sensation! HA! Well, maybe one of Taye’s “super stories” can make for an action packed screen play!

Here is what has been going on in the Binta home for the last few months. As all of you know, we had our second baby on May 22nd. Khalil Steven Binta was born after 36 hours of labor. After a looooooong process, I had a c-section. Oh, what fun!! Khalil is 7 months now and Taye is a great big brother! He loves to feed his brother and sing songs and dance for him. Khalil is a lot bigger than Taye was as a baby and gets pretty emotional and intense when it comes to food. He has a serious love affair with food and if you cross him, he would bite you if he could! Hey, sounds like me. I can remember praying with all of my heart that God would leave me a Big Mac and a retainer by my bed when I woke up in the morning. I am NOT KIDDING!! EVERY NIGHT in the 4th grade my end of the day prayer would sound like this….”Dear God…PLEASE leave me a Big Mac by my bed, so that when I wake up I can have it for breakfast. Also, please put either braces or a retainer in my mouth.” I would wake up every morning, feeling my teeth with my tongue. WOW! Okay, back to the subject… Khalil is getting bigger every day and has now taken up screaming. FUN!
Taye is great! He is 4 years old now and so much fun! He is full of imagination and loves to explore. Right now he is obsessed with “Sea Creatures”. Oh, and if you ask him if he love fishies, he will correct you and say, “No, I love Sea Creatures”… He was in a soccer league this year and had tons of fun. I coached and I will NEVER do that again! Taye was so funny! He would chase the ball, get bored, and run into the goal and try to play in the net. At times he would lay on the field or run to the gate to wave at people. He keeps us all on his toes and he loves every second of it! He likes to hop everywhere instead of walking. I actually don’t think he knows how to walk! They are teaching him that at school! He is currently attending Kidus Montessori in Seattle, near my job. WE LOVE IT! They are wonderful!!

Idrissa and I are well. Dre is still working at Kent School District as a counselor. He is still coaching football at Auburn Mountain View High school. They had a great season last year and keep improving with every year. I am working at the YMCA as a Case Manager in the Young Adult Services Permanent Housing Program. I love it. I am also still doing improv at Unexpected Productions (Seattle’s Theatersports). I am also working with theaters in and around Seattle. I found a great agent a few years back, doing Voice Overs etc. I love it!!

Well, there you go! My first blog! Binta update complete!
